At The House
by Rosalinda R.
For many students babysitting is their first job. Before
they have a job they baby-sit their own brothers or sisters.
"I help them do their homework and sometimes cook for
them," eighth grader Stephen Torrez said. Though babysitting
is a job, some students don't get paid. "They don't even
say 'good job'," eighth grader Brianna Penry said.
While babysitting, things might happen and the babysitter
doesn't have the authority to punish. "I threaten them
that I'm going to tell my mom," Stephen said.
Most students baby-sit after school and on weekends. "I
baby-sit from 7:00 to 9:00," eighth grader Rafael Rodriguez
said.
"My happiest memory of my sister was the first time
I got to carry her," Brianna said. "I want her to
succeed in whatever she wants."
